CSS

Wow, I had no idea how far CSS has come! Yes this is a geeky topic. CSS is an acronym for Cascading Style Sheets and they’re used to completely change the look and feel of websites without having to change the actual HTML code every time. If you’re smart and organized about your site design you can do crazy things.

Check out http://www.csszengarden.com/ for great examples of how different a page can look just by changing its CSS!

Free iPod Photo!

Sweeet! You can get a free iPod Photo with the help of a company called Gratis. Please help me get mine by following my referrer link.

http://www.freephotoiPods.com/?r=11969622

If you know me at all you know I don’t normally even look at crap like this, but I’ve been hearing a huge buzz about it and also did some research. Here are some links to show that this works.

1. Wired Magazine
2. Collin Grady
3. FreeIpodsAndFlatScreens.com

If you decide to help out please make sure to use my referrer link or it won’t work.

To get one for yourself and to help me get one you need to complete an offer and get your friends to do it too. The offers are easy to try and easy to cancel. I’m signing up for Blockbuster’s Rental trial (like Netflix). Harmless and easy to cancel if I don’t want to keep it.

Note: I will keep you all updated on my iPod status, so be sure to check back.

Northern Lights

Posted by Jacob Davida in General | No Comments

Sunday, November 7th proved to be a great evening for viewing the Northern Lights! That’s right, good o’l aurora borealis made a fantastic appearance much to our surprise! This was the first time I used a tripod for my dinky little Canon S500. It proved to work very well. Most pictures are 15 second exposures with an ISO setting of 50. Not too shabby.

Later that evening as I slept, Rachel & Nat (pictured above) drove off to Fall River and on the way apparently the lights just went absolutely nutty. The sky lit up bright flashing white with ribbons of colors around the horizon casting a mystical bright glow upon everything around them. It was unlike anything ever seen before according to Nat! Man too bad I was sleeping. Hopefully we’ll get another show like that one of these cold evenings!

Lela Fasion Show

I finally took the time to touch up my Lela Fasion Show pics. Feel free to check them out. Please keep in mind that a Canon S500 is not ideal for shooting models and especially not ideal when standing behind the publicity line ;) A.K.A. These pics are not intended to be professional quality, they are here merely for fun.

Wondeful job ladies and thanks for the invite Julie!

Thundercats Ho!

Posted by Jacob Davida in Photo | 1 Comment

This Halloween Rachel, Nat, Pam & I went to New York City! We borrowed Nat’s Parent’s Toyota minivan much to our delight. I can’t imagine driving 16 hours in one of our cramped Honda’s… yuk.

We decied to go as the Thundercats! That’s right - the fun cartoon straight out of the 80’s! Pictures are of course up. I managed to get these up faster than any other trip/update before. I think the excitement and constant high I still have from the trip was motivation.

The drive there was OK, 16 hours is a tough trip nonstop, but with 4 people to share the driving it’s bareable. We had our nerd laptop with us so we could watch DVD’s on the way. The company was fantastic on top of it ;)
Allow me to introduce your characters for the trip…

Jacob as Tygra!
Rachel as Cheetara!
Nat as Liono!
Pam as WilyKit!

We also met up with Nat’s brother Abe, his girlfriend Lori, and friend Brian who went as Optimus Prime, Spider Woman and Clark Kent. We were quite the bunch I might add.

Our Friday night arrival took us over the Washington bridge, through downtown, and then over the Brooklyn Bridge to Abe’s apartment. There we got ready and went out to a costume party. That evening we had a fun time trying to get into Adam’s apartment. Post partying meetings are usually quite interesting. Let’s just say we met his sweet land lady and got him in trouble with his girlfriend. hehe. Adam thank you so much for letting us stay with you! It made the trip that much more fun! :) Oh yeah and how could we forget about the cab trip …

Alright, so we were supposed to meet Adam at his apartment on the other side of Brooklyn. We took our sweet ass time getting there so naturally he fell asleep like any normal post partying person would do. 36 missed calls later, he finally woke up by some act of God and called us back. By this time we had already flagged down a late night cab driver to take us back to Abe’s. Adam called us just as we were getting on the Brooklyn bridge at 4:30 am during a traffic accident. We asked the cabby to take us back to where he picked us up and he was not pleased. He told us that he was off duty now and we would have to take another cab. He then proceeded to kick us out in the *middle of the bridge* and dump us in another cab! The cars behind us held their horns the entire time we were scrambling to grab our bags and not get run over. We didn’t pay the guy and weren’t even sure if this new driver would get us back. We made it though and slept very nicely that night. Never a dull moment! :)
Back to work for now. Enjoy the pics!
