XBox
I bought my very first game console on my own today. I never thought I’d actually be an owner of a console system being the big computer enthusiast I am, but it just makes sense right now. It brings back vivid memories of the old school Nintendo my family had when I was a wee lad.
BTW, the Europe Blog is on the back burner, I’ve misplaced my real world log of the trip… :/ It’ll be found, not to fret.
I’ve been wanting to build a multimedia movie/mp3/emulatr computer for a while wondering the best way to do it and the best way (opinion) just landed in my lap. Co-worker Chris W. just told me about the wonderful world of modded XBox’s! If you haven’t heard of it before, go Google it right now. It’s fantastic. On top of actually being the regular game console system, you can have the option of running custom apps that allow you to play MP3s and movies from the internal drive or from a network share. And the icing on the cake - it supports ROM emulators!
To sum that up: xbox games + emulators (snes, amiga, neogeo, atari, etc) + movies + mp3 + network + all contained in 1 small black box = super happy fun time! The hard drive (replaceable) can hold 1000’s of games and movies and mp3s. Now that’s what I call a home multimedia system!
Of course it’s still in the box in my car being only 1.5 hours new at the moment. I’ll post about the outcome and maybe even some screenshots at some time.
